Winters coming

I am sitting here at the office window looking out at the Mont Blanc massif with the Alpen glow tingeing the snow and ice different colors of red and pinks as the sun sinks. From the other window I can see the Aiguille de Varan and the Aiguille Rouge basking their mighty rock faces in the last of the sun. It is still sunny here in the Arve valley but by all accounts and weather reports winter is coming here by the weekend in force. Over 125 cm`s of snow reported for Saturday, so yesterday I put the winter tires on the car and bought some new snow chains. I put the shovel, a pair or gloves and a spare duvet jacket in as well.

All this has led me to start reading my avalanche and snow books again as the winter season is now on our door step and with that the snowshoe season is not far from starting. Already BigSmileAdventures are taking bookings as far forward as March, which is great news, not just for us but also to see how popular snow shoeing is becoming. Such a wonderful experience and the only way to visit the winter alpine back country unless you ski tour. There is no reason that the summer trekker cannot continue to enjoy the Alps when winter comes even if they cannot ski or even if they just want to try something different from their piste skiing holiday far away from the maddening crowds.

Here at BigSmileAdventures we offer Full day/Half day/Private group days/Open group days/Spa & Snowshoe weekends/Evening and night time snowshoe treks to a refuge or restaurant for an evening meal/Week long trips and the beauty is we offer most of this as tailor made packages so you tell us what you want and we put it together for you.

So if you want to see why snowshoeing is becoming so popular then why not drop us a line or give us a call, we love to chat about all things mountain. We run all of our trips around the French and Italian sides of the Mont Blanc massif.

All the details are on the website, so start looking and thinking about booking a great day out in the snow with BigSmileAdventures.
